How Can Optimism in Difficult Times Help?

Employees, leaders, stakeholder managers, and senior executives all confront obstacles or difficult moments during their careers, whether individually or as a group. It is natural to feel anxious and find it tough to comprehend the problem and come up with a solution. The major focus frequently moves to finding a solution that will fix the problem quickly. What is nearly often overlooked, however, is that preparing oneself to confront the challenge is far more important than preparing to battle the issue. Optimism plays an important part in dealing with difficult times. As a result, in this episode of the TED Talks Daily podcast from Apple Podcasts, editor and author Kevin Kelly explains the significance of optimism in difficult times.

Kevin shares three reasons why optimism in difficult times, in his perspective, rescues us from the difficult situations we may encounter in our life. According to him, every challenging scenario that has been conquered in the past has necessitated a strong feeling of hope in order to succeed. He proposes that, in order to have a better tomorrow, we must conceive and believe in solutions to the challenges we face now. Otherwise, no progress will be made. He claims that optimists have molded our whole history since we have accomplished substantial progress thus far. As a result, he feels that being optimism in difficult times would enable us to be a part of those who drive change in the world. He believes that optimism is not a complete rejection of difficulties, but rather the fortitude to tackle them head on. The second argument he cites for believing in optimism is because he believes civilization is a mechanism for making progress that is based on our enthusiastic trusting of each other. He thinks that through collaborating with complete strangers, you can bring out the best in yourself. The final argument he gives for believing in optimism is that humans must strive to leave the earth in a better shape for future generations. Similarly, it is critical in the workplace for employees of all generations to remain enthusiastic about one another in order to successfully address working difficulties. He recommends that no matter how big an issue you face, you should always be prepared to face it and be motivated to find a solution, because most of today’s problems are based on historical solutions that can be readily handled if understood more efficiently.

Optimism in difficult times especially is an underappreciated skill as well as a resource that makes work a lot simpler and makes dealing with workplace problems a lot more efficient than it would be if you started with a pessimistic attitude. In case you need an insight on the importance of optimism in difficult times, this discussion by Kevin Kelly in this episode of TED Talks Daily podcast from Apple Podcasts will assist you through.
