Should Drug Stores be in the Tobacco Business?

Tobacco products are a traditional inventory at many US drug stores, and some are resistant to pull it off their shelves. Research by Chicago Booth’s Pradeep K. Chintagunta and Booth PhD candidate Ali Goli suggests that removing tobacco products leads to a decline in the sale of other products as well eliminates tobacco revenue. Further research reveals that there is little evidence that the shift changes the overall behavior of smokers.
