Rethinking Fire with Data Analytics and Systems Design

The unprecedented fires in the western United States, and the devastating almost never-ending bushfires in Australia have forced us to face the fact that as a society we need to develop a new relationship with fire. We need to rethink fire and data analytics and systems design to make significant change. The constantly changing climate, expanding human development, and accumulating fuels mean new ideas and fresh approaches are needed to combat these issues. Research by the U.S. Forest Service, shows that short-term gain from suppression can condition the landscape for future, and MIT Sloan Executive Education been involved in translating that idea into action.
