Sabrina believes that an organization with inclusive work culture drives innovative results. She adds that the tech industry still struggles with inclusion and diversity, often falling short to grab diverse talent due to issues regarding an inclusive work culture. For companies looking to shape up their diversity and inclusion policies, she shared that the change can be challenging but, on the flipside, rewarding.

The article also mentions thoughts of Sabrina Clark, associate principal at SYPartners, that according to studies, the presence of physical diversity results in way better performance, especially for organisations that are data-driven, that enhanced performance boost can be beneficially motivating. She further quotes, “It’s also the fact that companies that lack diversity are being called out publicly, and may even be losing business, not to mention falling behind when it comes to recruiting. Even Google is starting to show signs that their lack of diversity is affecting them.” A study from 2018 by McKinsey implies that increased diversity in the workforce and an inclusive work culture results in greater profitability and further creation of value. The same holds true at the executive level, as he found a significant correlation between better financial performance and effective and diverse leadership. Companies in the top quartile for ethnic diversity at the executive level are 33% likely to have above-average profitability and efficiency than companies of the bottom quartile. In the dimension of gender diversity, companies in the top quartile are 21% more likely to have above average profitability and performance than companies of the bottom quartile.

Finally, Clark adds that It’s not just an initiative; it requires investment from the senior-most people to the newest person, and it needs real behavioral change. It’s about how the entire company operates and the individual ways of working, communicating, contributing and even just being in the world.
