Startups as Business Ecosystem Orchestrators

Startups are not usually considered to be active participants as successful orchestrators of business ecosystems. This is due to many reasons. But 9 case studies have highlighted 4 archetypes that show how startups can indeed play a pivotal role in business ecosystems and overcome challenges. These include identifying dimensions of standardization/customization and sources of value creation as defining the orchestrators’ roles. It also highlights the consequences for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), corporates, investors, and accelerators in such ecosystems.
