An Experiment Illuminates the Value of Public Transportation
The value of public transportation is revealed when a group of urban studies researchers at MIT published the results of a randomized, controlled trial on Boston’s MBTA system showing that if low-income people are offered a 50 percent fare discount, their ridership increases by over 30 percent. The new white paper’s lead author, MIT PhD student Jeffrey Rosenblum talks about the results.
