Alternate Reality Games are Addressing Global Issues

On this episode of the Big Brains podcast, Prof. Patrick Jagoda and Assoc. Prof. Kristen Schilt talk about how they design alternate reality games to address global issues ranging from climate change to public health.

The UChicago scholars design alternate reality games or ARGs that allow players to become active participants not just as players, but as designers. The games they design educate users about climate change, marginalization, and public health, and these scholars along with the players are investigating how creating these alternate realities can help reshape the real world in which we live.
