Pandemic in Bangladesh

Shifting Focus Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic in Bangladesh

Prof. Mushfiq Mobarak describes the arc of his research on scalable, evidence-based policy responses to the deprivations of poverty and how, along with his team, they repurposed their existing research infrastructure to respond to the pandemic in Bangladesh.

Prof. Mobarak talks about his influences and growing up in Bangladesh and how his experiences as a young boy shaped his interests and his focus in economy as a subject. He also talks about the reason behind the launch of the Yale Research Initiative on Innovation and Scale (Y-RISE) and how the onset of the pandemic forced them to shut down operations, only to start it back up with the realization that their existing infrastructure can help through the pandemic in Bangladesh and other places.
