Honest Apologies to Customers

Keeping Customers Takes Honest Apologies

A group of African American women were mistreated at an AMC theater in Louisiana, during a showing of the movie Harriet. Not only was the movie experience interrupted for them but the house lights were turned on and the rest of the audience also couldn’t enjoy the movie. The theater employees asked the one of the women to move seats due to a confusion with another customer’s ticket turning a pleasant movie day out into a nightmare. The theater chain’s and CEO Adam Aron’s quick response with a genuine apology and steps to amend the misconduct is what is required to right a wrong. Yale SOM’s Jeffrey Sonnenfeld writes that this is exactly what to do when your employees harm a customer.
