A New Promising Solution to Social Media Addiction

In a paper co-authored with James Niel Rosenquist of Harvard Medical School and Samuel N. Weinstein of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Economist Fiona Scott Morton of Yale SOM writes about social media addiction and who needs to step in to manage the problem.

Without more meaningful social media competition in the industry, companies have no reason to regulate or change the addictive quality of their content. So, antitrust enforcement can help by encouraging and introducing new social media platforms that are healthier alternatives.
