Why Technology Isn’t Enough to Establish Remote Work

UCLA Anderson’s Christopher Erickson and Loyola University Chicago’s Peter Norlander published a paper in the Industrial Relations Journal that explains why technology isn’t enough to establish remote work. A lot more is required.

It’s true that the reason the world was able to almost immediately shift to working remotely was the advancements in technology. But this advancement isn’t new. And yet it took a global pandemic for us to actually work remotely.

So, while we are well-versed with the technology that is needed for remote work, a revised work structure is needed to accommodate the needs of the workers in order to establish remote work and hybrid work is a manner that will last.
