Technology Can Make the World Better

Technology Can Make the World a Better Place. Will Humans Allow It?

The world of startups has long had the reputation of being a boys’ club. A survey of diversity reports published by 11 of the world’s largest tech companies found that just 30% of employees were women. And if you focus only on women in technical positions and the numbers are even bleaker. Another problem to address is that new tech  products and services are many-a-times focused on trivial uses catering to men with disposable incomes. Technology can make the world better but that’s a while away. So Katie Rae ’97 is constantly on the lookout for the next great startup through her incubator and investment firm. She talks about building a team, focusing on ideas that can make a difference, and making it possible for women and minorities to get the capital needed to make a go of it.
