Valuable Tips to Achieve a Good Work-Life Balance

In this article, an award-winning marketing professional and Business News Daily contributing writer, Marisa Sanfilippo, shares her valuable tips to achieve a good work-life balance.

It is known that often in the sprint to achieve professional success, we tend to overlook our health and wellbeing. Beginning with the importance of work-life balance, Marisa writes that balance between work and life is undoubtedly essential for physical, emotional and mental well-being but equally imperative for the work itself. Work-life balance, as she defines, is the state of equilibrium where a person equally prioritizes the demands of one’s career and the demands of one’s personal life. In most cases, Increasing office responsibilities or increasing responsibilities at home, working long hours, and having children are the causes for poor work-life balance.

A good employer should realize his/her responsibilities towards his/her employee’s well-being and create a positive, healthy and stress free environment for them. It is also important to understand that due to such work-life balance, frequent absenteeism in a company decreases and the employee proves to be more loyal and productive which is beneficial not only for the employee but also for the employer.

Furthermore, a perfect work-life balance is a myth. That being said, it is not realistic to achieve work-life balance every day, rather it is achieved over time so instead of a perfect schedule one should strive for a realistic schedule. “At times, your children may need you, and other times, you may need to travel for work, but allowing yourself to remain open to redirecting and assessing your needs on any day is key in finding balance”, said Heather Monahan. She shared and explained several brilliant tips including finding a job you love so much that you would even do it for free, prioritizing your health, setting boundaries and priorities and sticking to them, completely unplugging when needed, taking vacation time, and taking time for yourself and family.
